About us
Puratchi Thalaivi Amma Government Arts and Science College – Palladam was established in 2017, by the Government of Tamil Nadu at Palladam, in Tirupur district with the intending to impart quality student centred education to produce proven strive hard for continuous development and improvement in learning and developmental activities. The college is affiliated with Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. It offers Nine Undergraduate Programmes and One Postgraduate Programme.
Aiming at excellence, the college offers UG programmes in Tamil, English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Commerce, Commerce (Banking and Insurance), Computer Science, Costume Design and Fashion. The Departments of Tamil, English, Commerce, and Computer Science are proposed for PG and Research Departments. Semester pattern examination is implemented. The college also works towards fostering partnerships with Academic and Industrial experts to provide quality education and opportunities for entrepreneurial development by providing hands-on training.
- The college plays a vital role in education and empowerment of students from underprivileged economic status. The college has student’s strength of approximately 1400. It has applied for one NCC Unit of 94 students and two NSS Unit of 200 students that bring us laurels annually from institution. It has 10 permanents Assistant Professors including 8 Ph.D., Supervisors, 6 Guest Lecturers, and 25 PTA staff members. Apart from that our faculties are regularly publishing in national, international and state level journals. The college annually hosts various activities. The college office has the full pledged 10 Non-teaching Staff members.
- The Motto of the college is “SEARCH FOR WISDOM” which indicates to help the needy and deserving people in the society. Accordingly, those who graduate from this institution are moulded to promote close relations to the society and to expand participation in community development and nation building. It has a sprawling campus of 5.14 acres which comparing of Main Block and Additional Block. The college is centrally located in the heart of Palladam Municipality which is known for industrial area and it is 1 km from Palladam bus stand, 20kms from the Tirupur Railway Station and 25kms from the Coimbatore Airport. It is also close to NH-81 Tiruchirappalli on one side (an ancient city in India’s southern Tamil Nadu state) and NH-79 Chennai on the other side (is a Gateway to south India). It was established with an objective to extend educational opportunities to empower the women of the region, which come from various small villages of Palladam city. Our academic standard is already quite high. It ensures regular periods, attendance, internal exams, and special tutorials, as required. This will also ensure better results and more meritorious students. We will be taking advantage of latest academic tools like audio visual aids, educational CD’s, Movies, Guest - Lectures and Power Point Presentation, Seminars, and Workshops.

- Computers have become an integral part of employment and even personal lives. To provide COMPUTER LITERACY PROGRAMME to all students a special programme has been devised. A state of the art fully equipped computer lab with 30 computers and Wi-Fi internet facility with 10 MBPS speed is available.
- The College has a well-stocked library containing 7017 books and fully trained staff to assist the students and staff members for their requirements. It has fully manual entry for the entire library so that all books are properly cataloged to make them easily accessible and smooth process of issue and return. Sufficient reading room space facility has been provided to self-study and reference for the students as well as staff members. All current topics, competitive exams books, self-improvement books and apart from the regular course material will be made available. Target-to makes the library the best in the region and a one stop reference point.
- A full-fledge placement cell is in place organizing campus placements. This will create employment opportunities for the students. We give special training to students who seek employment and bring in big and reputed corporate and other employers to the students to avail the best employment opportunities up to their liking and aptitude. Later, on this will be expanded and developed to include all other institutions also to make available a common platform. The college aims to promote sports at education through the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development of people in order to promote healthier, happier and more successful people. It creates respectful students who have value their health and fitness and practice healthful activities throughout their lives. It also provides opportunities for the students to participate in the open and invitational tournaments organised by reputed educational institutions.
- Remedial coaching is making the students employable or self-employable in competitive era to achieve the goal of institution. It also aims to empower our students intellectually, spiritually, mentally and physically through various extra and co-curricular activities. Our college magazine provides students a platform to hone their innovative skills. Institution provides a good infrastructure with safe, hygienic and well-maintained aesthetic environment and focus on computer literacy with all ICT facilities like LCD Projector, Computer, Laptops, and Internet to the students in teaching and learning process. Besides these, innovative methodologies are used by teachers in the dissemination of information.
